Cyber Resilience Week Day 2

It’s day two of Cyber Resilience week. The focus today is about raising awareness around the exploitation of adults and vulnerable and targeted groups.

Here are some top tips as to how these key groups can stay safe online:

  • Create complex passwords and never share these with anyone– make sure this is hard to guess ensuring you don’t use your pets name, birthday or favourite football team
  • Look for the padlock symbol in the web browser- when shopping or banking online ensure the web address begins with https://
  • Use anti-virus software while also ensuring you regularly install updates to any applications
  • Change your social media accounts to private within the settings
  • Secure the Wi-Fi- use a strong password that is only familiar to you and your family members. Never use a potentially unsecure hotspot when you are out in the community.
  • Never open a suspicious looking email from someone you don’t know.
  • Always log out of your accounts when you have completed your task.
  • Don’t be tempted to transfer money to people you meet online
