Anyone can fall victim to a scam. People of all ages and backgrounds get scammed. It’s important to be on your guard – if you’re not sure about something take your time and get advice.  If you think someone might be trying to scam you, it’s important to act straight away. If you need advice and support you can call the Citizens Advice consumer service on 0808 223 1133 or visit www.citizensadvice.org.uk. You should also report scams or suspected scams to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or visit www.actionfraud.police.uk   Milton Keynes Trading Standards will be sending messages out on Twitter throughout the fortnight, their Twitter handle is: @miltonkeynests

If you are interested to learn more about how to avoid scams – for your own benefit or to advise others who may be vulnerable – please take a look at the attached schedule of new webinars (online seminars, if you prefer to avoid modern jargon!) taking place in July. They are, of course, entirely free, and open to all – NHW Members or not! – so please pass on the details to everyone who could be interested, and help to protect everyone against this terrible problem.
