New OWPC Website Launched
A new OWPC website was launched in February 2016 based on the very popular open source publishing platform, WordPress. WordPress enables a far greater level of functionality than the old proprietary platform. As the platform is so widely used there are also a large number of plug-ins and themes that can be purchased to enhance the extensive functionality that WordPress provides and to enable greater personalisation of the look and feel of the site. The OWPC website uses the Enfold Theme to deliver extra functionality and deliver the website layout without any recourse to proprietary code development.
The website represents the main source of information for residents containing, as it does, a copy of all published newsletters and meeting minutes, etc. It is also a primary contact point since nearly all new rquests for allotments are triggered after a visit to the website’s allotments page.
It has been created and is updated and managed by Councillor Philip Nash at no cost to the Parish Council. However, many thanks are due to Central Milton Keynes Town Council who were kind enough to demonstrate how they developed their website and offer very useful advice and guidance.
